Make your own free website on Tripod.com

You are now in the frames section of the easyTEST website. This section outlines some of the issues you may face when using stealth redirection with a site that already uses frames. This section also provides examples from within a frames layout so you can see the results for yourself.

Stealth redirection uses a small frameset to preserve your domain name in the location bar. The information and examples shown below will help you avoid conflicts among frames.

The name of the frame.

The two frames used in stealth redirection are named:

  1. top
  2. easydns+somenumber (easydns5434354, for example)
You must make sure that none of the frames on your website are called "top". Otherwise, you will get some strange results when trying to target any frame called "top".

You should note that there is a difference between a frame named "top" and the use of target="_top" to break out of framesets.

loading new framesets...

If you want to load a new frameset when a user clicks on one your links, you can do it a couple of ways.

1. You can use target="top" and reference only the filename or directory

For example, you can use:

<a href="anotherframeset.html" target="top">

and the new frameset will load within the current stealth frameset. Using this code means that easyDNS will not have to send a new stealth frameset and your pages will load slightly faster.

Click on this link to see for yourself: another frameset

The new frameset will load in this window, but the location will not change.

Click on this link to go back to the normal frameset.

2. You can use target="_top" and reference the filename or directory including the full domain name.

For example, you can use:

<a href="http://www.youdomain.com/anotherframeset.html" target="top">

and the new frameset will load within a new stealth frameset and show the new location.

Click on this link to see for yourself: another frameset with location

The new frameset will load in this window and the location will change. Using this code means asking easyDNS for a new frameset which may mean your new frameset will take slightly longer to load.

Click on this link to go back to the normal frameset.
